If you are considering a walk, the Bannockburn Sluicings are a wonder to behold.

They are just a short drive from Cromwell, situated on Felton Rd, just past Mt Difficulty Wines (a great place for a glass of wine after the walk). Look out for the sign on the left and park in the carpark. From there, follow the yellow markers which guide you on a 1 hour loop track that makes you feel you are somewhere else in the world.

Make sure you read the information boards along the way as they provide a fascinating insight into the gold mining era and the hardships faced by those involved.

As you make your way up be sure to turn around every now and then to take in the magnificent view which almost looks like a painting!
